Details
Forged in honor. Cast in legacy. The Ghent Fire District medallion stands as a lasting tribute to the men and women who answer the call day or night, protecting their community with courage, grit, and unwavering commitment. At its center, a vivid scene captures the heart of Ghent, where industry, land, and daily life are closely connected. Rising smokestacks, rolling hills, and the quiet strength of Kentucky’s landscape reflect the very community these firefighters serve and defend, all encircled by the iconic Maltese cross, a symbol of duty, sacrifice, and brotherhood.
Every detail is rendered in high-relief solid bronze, giving the design depth, strength, and presence. The surface is enhanced with baked-on enamel and sealed with a durable clear coat that preserves its rich color and finish over time. A classic rope border frames the piece, reinforcing a sense of tradition and craftsmanship while adding to its bold, timeless character.
Whether placed on a monument, presented in recognition, or kept as a personal keepsake, this medallion ensures the legacy of the Ghent Fire
District, established in 1972, endures. It stands as a permanent reminder of service, sacrifice, and the enduring bond between a department and the community it protects.
Secondary applications include placing them on or near the casket at the time of the service or placing the medallion near the registration book.
2 sided commercial tape for mounting is included with the medallion.
How this medallion is made
This medallion has been carefully researched and expertly designed with focus toward important details. When a 3D design is prepared a plastic sculpt is fashioned and then converted to a hardened synthetic mold from which a magnesium die is created. The base metal is a proprietary brass composition. The metal is melted and formed into strips after which it travels on a metal conveyor belt where the annealing process softens the outer surface preparatory for stamping. As the medallion is processed it is struck with more than 360 tons of pressure. With pinpoint accuracy enamel applicators place color and other accents onto the surface. The medallion is then passed through a large kiln-like machine in which the electro-plating process fuses the enamels and antiquing to the metal base. The concluding phases include hand buffing the medallion and preparing it for packaging. Your medallion is warranted to not fade, discolor or yellow for 50 years.
